Website Redesign for a Major Defense Firm

How Our Development Team Approached a Website Redesign for a Major Defense Firm

NCN was selected to redesign the website of a leading defense firm. Our development team worked closely with the firm’s leadership to establish priorities before designing, developing, testing and launching a website to help our client achieve objectives for engagement and growth. Take a look at how we built a success story!

Project Objective

NCN Technology was  selected by Spectrum Comm Inc. to complete a website (www.sptrm.com) focused on creating a more dynamic, user-friendly portal for showcasing the company’s mission-focused work.

Client

Spectrum is a professional services and technical solutions company meeting critical mission challenges for U.S. defense and intelligence agencies, law enforcement, and civilian agencies. Headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, Spectrum brings the knowledge and experience of many of the nation’s best engineers, scientists, and acquisition professionals to important missions.

Kickoff

The NCN team was confident from the first meeting that we could use our unique insights and technological integrations to help Spectrum add value to its digital interactions with prospective clients. Our development team was inspired to create a website referencing the values and integrity Spectrum is known for in the defense industry. We’re excited to share what our workflow for professional website development with a major company looks like.

When aligning our talents and capabilities with Spectrum’s needs, the NCN team presented the company’s leadership with a statement of work detailing a project plan for work breakdown structure, implementation, testing, training, and transition.

Phase 1: Design

After receiving plan approval, NCN quickly got to work on the design phase for Spectrum’s new website. Our team gathered the requirements and established the metrics needed to build an updated infrastructure by working closely with Spectrum’s internal marketing and strategy teams. We presented written status updates for review and approval at weekly meetings during the design phase. Next, it was time to start building the website.

NCN’s team of developers, designers, and engineers completed all coding to the specifications of the approved site design. All content requested by Spectrum was used when redesigning website features that were either outdated or degrading. As the website came to fruition, we kept Spectrum’s leadership team informed regarding our detailed testing plan for quality control.

Phase 2: Build

Our team conducted testing in Spectrum’s development environment before completing testing in the final release. All coding issues identified in testing were flagged, documented, and resolved by our team. As part of our ongoing collaboration and communication with Spectrum, a testing report documenting performance was presented for review and approval at each stage. NCN clients always receive a checklist of project requirements showcasing that all aspects of design, quality control, launching, and testing have been completed.

Phase 3: Implementation

Once we were confident that all specifications and requirements were in place, NCN’s team moved forward with the implementation phase of the new Spectrum website. After implementing the site on the Spectrum servers, our developers and engineers ran final testing on the live site using a non-disruptive window of time. We were able to present a project-closure report to Spectrum that delivered an on-time, on-budget conclusion.

Results

NCN’s team was proud to deliver a secure, dynamic website that meets the needs of Spectrum’s carefully defined market presence.
